So, ideally you've used fewer than 50 Salamander Points today, or 2 carbon tons per year, but that's not gonna happen.  We'll talk about that later (see FAQ).  For now, it's important to know that the average American has used 20 times what's sustainable.  20 TIMES!  How carbon obese are we!?  Let's aim to reduce our carbon emissions by just 10%.  Like with a diet, you don't have to be bikini-ready overnight, but watching what you eat will help you drop some carbon pounds and inch towards your sustainable goals.

"That's great, Rachel," I hear you musing, "but let's say I want to visit my sister in Seattle?  That's a lot of Salamander Points!"

True, but just like when we diet, if we splurge one day, we tighten our belts the next.  Also, because we are all members of one global community, we can trade points with our friends--for babysitting, for stickers or lollipops ....whatever!  Me, I'd trade 10 Salamander Points for a Barak Obama bobblehead anytime.

"Is it even possible to use only 50 Salamander Points per day?" I hear you asking.  (I'm ignoring your tone, by the way.)  No, not really--our infrastructure and habits are too unhealthy.  Instead, determine a level that is challenging but workable.  And as we make different decisions--in how much we consume, how we vote, what we urge our legislators to support, and how we live--the culture and its needs will change, and everyone's Salamander Points will melt off.  Awesome!
